A list

I’m not a die-hard list person, but  I do find that, being a chronic prevaricator, making a to do list does actually encourage me to do. It seems to increase the satisfaction of having done it too.

I don’t think I’ve made a list of what I like since I believed in Santa Claus. Sometimes life got so busy that I just didn’t have time to think about what I liked or didn’t like. For a long time I didn’t even know what I liked but I do believe I am ready to make a list now! So here goes….

  1. Sunsets
  2. Rainbows, especially double rainbows
  3. Snow
  4. The wind blowing through the corn somewhere in Suffolk
  5. Windy, pebbly beaches and coastal walks, perhaps south coast of UK
  6. Deserted, calm sandy beaches, perhaps Bali
  7. Conversation
  8. Bacon
  9. Theater
  10. Lead light windows (real ones)
  11. Long train journeys
  12. A long gin & tonic with ice and lemon
  13. Ferries, especially ones that serve breakfast
  14. Bridges
  15. Magnolias, jasmine, frangipani and jacaranda
  16. The smell of rain on wet earth
  17. Dogs
  18. Street Art
  19. Loud music when driving
  20. Strong coffee

ETA (most important)

Babies

All kinds of New Stationery

  1. You’ve inspired me to do the same. Thank you! One thing I’ve already thought: for the first time since I started working decades ago, I will be able to enjoy the snow. No worries about having to drive in it. Just bask in the beauty of it. Not that I’m rushing winter, but (finally!) snow’s a nice thing to look forward to!

  2. We don’t see much snow in Sydney. I remember it as a child. It had a slight smell that I can’t describe, muffled sounds, was soft under your feet and a made a squeaky noise when rolled into a ball. Another temporary thing -afterwards you get slush!

  3. You write the most thoughtful & thought-provoking insights! “Another temporary thing-afterwards you get slush!” Just that statement alone merits in-depth pondering! Thank you! …You’ve inspired me to gift myself with a retirement present of an amazing books of snowflake photos; I borrowed it from the library two years ago. Thank you!
